The Coping Cue Cards Distraction Deck© is a deck of cards designed to help kids learn healthy coping skills.  It has 44 coping skills cards with simple distraction strategies children can use.

Play is a natural stress reliever for children, and this deck offers tons of play ideas to help kids decompress. Sometimes kids also need to take a break before they're ready to deal with their stress, anxiety, or anger. This deck offers lots of ideas for creative and fun ways for kids to take a break until they're ready and able to process their thoughts and emotions.

We know that not all coping skills work in all places. To make it easier, we’ve included cheerful divider cards to help you sort skills by different settings like when traveling, at school, at social events, and in stores & restaurants.

YES, there are 44 different distraction coping strategies included in this deck!

What age range are these cards designed for?

They are designed for ages 4 - 10 years old, or elementary school-aged kids, but older kids who respond well to visuals may also benefit as well. 


When will my cards ship?

Cards with usually ship within 2 business days, and you should receive a tracking number so you can track where your cards are.

Who created these cards?


Coping Skills for Kids was created by Janine Halloran, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts who has been working with children, teens, and their families for 20 years. She has been helping children and teens build their coping skills and social skills throughout her career in a variety of settings, including schools, mental health clinics and continues to do so now in her private practice.

Are these coping skills evidence-based?

According to the American Psychological Association (2006), evidence-based practice means “the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences.” The resources created at Coping Skills for Kids are made with this definition in mind.
